Try These Simple Tricks for Naturally Long, Lustrous Lashes

Just because you’re not in the mood to put on falsies doesn’t mean you should settle for basic lashes! Amp your mascara game up by following these step-by-step tips from beauty expert Lauren Curtis, and you’ll be sure to turn heads with your eye-catching lashes!

Lauren admits that she overdid the mascara in the process of filming this video, but the technique she used is still effective at lengthening the appearance of lashes. You just may want to use fewer coats of mascara when applying it

Keep these steps in mind to achieve the voluminous looks lashes you want with a minimum of mess:

Step 1: Buy mascara that extends the length of your lashes.

Try a fiber building mascara such as LashEase, which enhances your natural lashes giving you buildable volume. Or you can research other lengthening mascaras, such The Falsies Volum Express from Maybelline New York, which is the mascara Lauren used in this video. You can also do your research on other lengthening mascara brands online.

Step 2: Apply the product on your upper eyelashes.

Make sure the end of the mascara wand is curved upwards when you swipe it on your lashes. Swipe it from the base of the lashes to the ends. Blink while looking downwards when applying the mascara so that you get as much product on it as possible.

Keep putting mascara on the upper lashes (while still following the base-to-end method) until you get your desired thickness and volume. Add more product to the outer lashes to emphasize the curve.

Step 3: Swipe behind the lashes.

Hold the brush with the end curved downwards and apply mascara behind the lashes. Do one swipe of product for this step, as putting too many layers behind the lashes can weigh it down and make your lashes look straight. Always make sure that your lashes are still swiped away from your eyes firmly.

Step 4: Remove stuck strands with tweezers.

Since you are applying lots of product, expect your lashes to get clumped on some parts. There’s no need to worry–this is normal! You can remove those stuck strands with tweezers or small brow combs. Do it slowly and gently to keep your eyeball from getting poked.

Step 5: Follow the same steps with your lower lashes.

The same process applies to your lower lashes. Take note, however, that it’s trickier to put mascara on your lower lashes because they are shorter than your upper lashes. Try not to apply mascara too fast so you won’t make a huge mess on your eyes.
