Finally Get the Blended Eyeshadow Look You’ve Always Wanted!

If you’ve never been satisfied with how your eyeshadow looks, then check out Alexandra’s technique for expert blending. Following these steps will give your eyes a well-defined crease line without colors that look choppy on your lids:

Before trying this out for yourself, do not forget these tips to perfectly blend your eye shadow colors:

  • To prep your lids, first put on a nude or translucent eye shadow, a color that is close to your own skin tone.
  • The heart of this technique is to build up the eye shadow slowly, starting with the lighter colors. Too many women start out with a dark color of eye shadow, which ends up looking choppy.
  • It is better to mix your colors on the brush instead of mixing the colors on your eye lids. Tap the darker color you want on your palette first and then tap into the lighter color.
  • The darker you get with the colors the smaller your brush should get.
  • You can use a clean brush to buff out the crease line so that it doesn’t appear too dark or harsh. If your crease line still seems too distinct, you can use a blend of the lighter colors to make it less prominent.
  • If the eye shadow gets blown out over your lids, then you can “erase” it by using a shadow that matches the color of your skin tone.
  • Always tap off the brush a little bit before applying so that you’re not going in with too much pigment.
  • The building process for the lower lash line is much the same as for the upper lids, but it should be done with larger and fluffier brushes.
