Achieve the Perfect Eyeshadow Look with these Steps

Creating a beautiful eyeshadow look can be tricky, especially if you’re new to the makeup game. Unlock the secret to seamless eyeshadow application by following these foolproof steps.

The Steps to a Perfect Eyeshadow Look

Try using Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette To achieve the a great look, perform the following steps:

  • Prep your eyelids by applying your choice of concealer for a clean and even base. Uses Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Concealer.
  • Set the concealer using a translucent powder to avoid a tacky base. In this case, use Lawless Seal the Deal Loose Setting Powder.
  • An optional step is to apply an eyeshadow shade close to your natural skin tone all over your lid.
  • Use a shadow one or two shades darker than your skin tone as a transition shade. Take a small amount and apply it to your crease, going in a back-and-forth motion to buff it out.
  • Choose a much darker shade and apply it across your lash line in an upward direction towards your eyebrow. Slightly drag it across your crease without covering the transition shade you already have on.
  • Using a wet brush or clean finger, apply a light shimmer shade right on the inner corner of your eyes. Blend it out towards the center of your lid.
  • At this point, you can apply your eyeliner. Alternatively, you can use a deeper color of eyeshadow and concentrate it on the outer corner of your lower lash line.
  • After applying your base as normal, take a smaller, fluffy brush and blend the transition shade with the foundation on your lower lash line for a smoky look.
  • Brush on the same darker shade used before on the outer portion of the lower lash line.
  • Apply the same light shimmer shade near the inner corner of the eyes.
  • Finally, highlight the inner corner of your eyes and your brow bones to complete the look.

Additional Tips

  • Build up the colors of your shadow by working in small layers. Remember: it’s easier to add more than to take away.
  • View the overall look every once in a while to see if any adjustments are needed.
  • If you find that you went a little too heavy on the eyeshadow, use a fluffy brush and dip it in translucent powder and apply a little on the eyelids to blend out the color more.
  • For a lighter touch, hold your makeup brush by the end of the handle. This position is better for blending out eyeshadow.
  • As a general rule, keep the darker colors near the outer area of your eye, going lighter as you move inward. It’s also recommended to keep most of the pigment near the outer corner of your lash line.
  • Clean your eyeshadow brushes in between uses to avoid mixing the colors. Spray a tiny bit of Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner on a towel and rub your brush into it. However, you can use the same brush if you’re working from a lighter shadow to a darker one.

By following this effective technique, you, too, can pull off eyeshadow that looks like it was professionally done. All it takes is knowing the tricks to perfect the technique of applying eyeshadow! It wasn’t so hard, was it?
