5 DIY Tips for Getting Rid of Blackheads

Are your blackheads always bothering you? Word is out that using blackhead pore strips isn’t really good for you. In fact, these things are said to develop more blackheads, which means more problems for you. If you want to know the best ways to remove blackheads, check these five DIYs and ways to do just that.

What Are Blackheads?

Blackheads are formed in an area of the skin with a small opening. It is usually filled with bacteria, sebum, any other forms of skin debris. The same opening allows for air to go through it, which then causes oxidation and that’s the reason why all the gunk there turns black. Blackheads are usually found in oily areas of the face such as the forehead, nose, skin around the nose, and the chin.

How to Remove Blackheads Naturally

The best way to avoid blackheads is to simply wash your face every morning and night. However, if you already have blackheads and want to remove them, you can give these methods a try:

Method 1: Egg White Mask

An egg white mask can:

  • Tighten pores
  • Control oily skin
  • Gett rid of blackheads
  • Remove facial hair
  • Smoothe wrinkles

All you need is 1 egg and toilet paper. Separate the egg white and the yolk. Beat the egg white a bit and then using a brush, apply it on the problem area. Put a piece of toilet paper, press, and then apply egg white on top of it. Keep layering 3 to 4 times. Leave it for 10 minutes and peel away.

Method 2: Honey and Milk Mask

Honey is a great antibacterial, while milk has lactic acid—both of which help break down dead skin.

To make a honey and milk mask, mix 1 tbsp of raw honey and 1 tbsp of milk. Pop it into the microwave for five seconds ONLY. Apply a generous amount of the mixture on the problem area and press the cotton pad on top of it. After 20 minutes, peel the cotton pad off and wash the area with warm water. This can be a bit drying on the skin so apply moisturizer afterward.

Method 3: Lemon Astringent

This lemon astringent method is more of preventative because lemon is excellent in shrinking pores. You can use this in the morning or at night after washing the face. It’s a great natural astringent!

Simply mix 5 parts of distilled water and 1 part lemon juice. Put the mixture in a sterilized bottle, and that’s it!

Method 4: Baking Soda Toothpaste and Sea Salt Exfoliator

It is important to use plain baking soda toothpaste and not the mint flavor here. Mix the toothpaste and a bit of sea salt. Scrub the problem area with the mixture to remove blackheads.

Method 5: Clay Masks

Bentonite clay works great in removing blackheads as well as other impurities in the skin. When applied on the skin, it hardens quickly and then physically draws out whatever he can—all that gunk and debris buildup! Clay masks are great for treatment and prevention.

So there you have it! You can now throw away those pore strips and simply mix ingredients found in your kitchen (or bathroom) and start freeing yourself from annoying blackheads. Remember, clean your face thoroughly to avoid these nasty little things and avoid them from coming back!
